Convex advised the Shareholders of Vinyl Compounds Limited, a leading UK-based technical PVC compounds manufacturer serving a broad range of industries including: building and construction, pipe and profile manufacturers, footwear and consumer goods, on a sale to Orbia (formerly Mexichem), a Mexican speciality chemicals maker.
The addition of Vinyl Compounds will expand Orbia’s ability to meet global PVC compound demand and will enable further vertical integration of its Compounds Business Unit operations through Vinyl Compounds’ stabilizer technologies and recycled PVC capabilities. Vinyl Compounds’ key raw materials are PVC resin and plasticizers, which should bring additional synergies to Orbia’s Vinyl operations.
Vinyl Compounds was founded by Chris Makin and is based in Chinley, Derbyshire. The company generates Revenues of approximately $40m. The business is the largest employer in the High Peak and boasts the most talented collection of PVC chemists in the UK.
Convex structured a deal that gave the owners 100% of their consideration on completion and gave the management team a highly motivational structure.
